Global Logistics Associates (GLA) have our own Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) called GlobeTrans International B.V. (GTI) to provide competitively priced ocean shipping services to our members and their clients. GlobeTrans International B.V. is a limited liability company fully owned by GLA.
All GLA members and their registered GLA offices are agents of GlobeTrans International. Members can download the GTI B/L from the GLA website and have it reproduced locally with their own logo as issuing agent. The identity and recognition of each GTI member is then safeguarded and uniquely recognized.
GTI is registered with the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) allowing members to move shipments to and from the United States on the GTI Bill of Lading. Under GTI, we also provide online tariff filing, online GTI Bill of Lading registration, and AMS filing. GTI is supported through nominal transaction fees based on GLA member usage.
The objective of the Guardian Plan is to allow Global Logistics Associates members an added protection guarantee for the financial risks associated with international business. The Guardian Plan is a special fund supported by members of Global Logistics Associates. Global Logistics Associates member companies would be compensated for the money lost during the course of a business transaction between members in the event that a member company has become insolvent, bankrupt, or closed. No claims would be paid against a member company that remains in business unless a determination has been approved by the Arbitration Committee and the Global Logistics Associates Board of Directors.
The Guardian Plan is funded by Global Logistics Associates members through annual fee assessments. The fee amount is reviewed periodically and set by the GLA Board of Directors to ensure the sustainability of the plan for the future. There is no refund in the event a Global Logistics Associates member resigns or is removed for cause from membership. All Global Logistics Associates members in good standing are eligible for coverage in the Guardian Plan once they have made payment for the annual fees.
