04 Oct European Union’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2)
Many Shipping lines will be implementing the next phase of the ICS2 before the expected date of December 2024.
From MSC
From the 31st of October 2024 an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) is mandatory for all shipments destined for or transiting the 27 European Union countries, and three other countries: Northern Ireland, Norway and Switzerland. This regulation applies also to freight remaining on board.
The following information is imperative for MSC to complete the filing process:
- Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) of the consignee (EU shipments only)
- EORI number of the supplementary declarant in case of multiple ENS filings
- Commodity code: 6-digit Harmonised System (HS) Code
- House Bill(s) included in the shipment: Yes or No
- Full address details, including street name, number, PO Box, city, postcode, and country for all involved parties
- Buyer and Seller information (if different from the Shipper and Consignee, and if the goods are delivered within the EU).
Where Buyer and Seller information is different from the Shipper and Consignee, and goods are delivered within the EU, submission may be made directly via the myMSC Customer Portal as from the 31st of October 2024.
Failure to provide the required information at least three working days prior to the estimated time of loading may result in a Do Not Load instruction, with all incurred costs charged to the Shipper/Booking Client’s account.
